Sprint Creates Mifi Hotspot at JFK

If your going to be at JFK International Airport sometime in the next year, your in for a treat of Sprint's mobile broadband. Sprint will have a wall with multiple Mifi mobile hotspots set up in Terminal 8 of the airport (the American Airlines terminal) to demonstrate how the device works and to let travelers connect to the hotspots with their Wifi devices. It should be easy to spot, being a thirteen foot curved wall (probably yellow and black) inside the secure area of the airport. You can check it out anytime until December 2010, so let us know what it's like if your traveling in the Terminal and get a chance to connect to one of the Mifi's. (Sprint)

Sprint Seeing Some Good Signs In Quarter Four

After years of losses and high customer churn, it looks like Sprint is finally starting to make a turn around. Although they lost money and over 500,000 iDen customers, they gained some 3,000 customers to their CDMA network, and have less losses than previous quarters. If this continues, it looks like Sprint might actually be on it's way to a profit and a turnaround sometime soon. (Engadget)

Sprint customers everywhere should be happy with this news: Sprint has partnered with GetJar to offer over 60,000 free applications to it's customers. This includes phones that aren't smartphones, like the LG Lotus or Samsung Rant, in addition to the smartphone lineup. There will be a link on upcoming phones for access to the application store right from the phone, without having to type the website into the phone browser. You can get the applications by going to GetJar's website either from your mobile phone or computer, and if you're on your phone, it should be able to detect your model and display what apps are available for you to download. There are also payed apps and the applications that have been on Sprint's Digital Lounge still available, but this new selection of free apps is a great bonus for customers. Just be aware that if you don't have a data plan on your account, you will probably be charged for using the internet on your device and downloading the applications.
